Washington (EFE).- After music icon Taylor Swift said she would vote for Kamala Harris in the upcoming presidential election five days ago, Republican candidate and former President Donald Trump said Sunday that he hates the most successful American singer of the moment.

With a live “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” in capital letters and exclamations, Trump vented his anger on his social network Truth Social against the multi-award-winning artist, the most listened to in recent years internationally on platforms such as Spotify.

“Single lady with cats”

On Tuesday, shortly after the debate between the two main candidates for the US presidency, former Republican President Trump and current Vice President, Democrat Kamala Harris, concluded, Swift published a lengthy post on Instagram in which she told her 283 million followers that she will vote for Harris in the November 5 election.

Swift posed with a photo of her cat Benjamin and signed her post “single lady with cats,” a reference to Trump’s running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance, who criticized Harris and childless women by calling them that name.

A day later, 337,826 people had visited the http://www.vote.org link that Swift attached to the post, a spokesperson for the U.S. Government Services Administration told the Hollywood Reporter.

Trump’s attacks on Taylor Swift

In an interview on Fox News on Wednesday, Trump described Swift as a “very liberal person” and said she would “probably pay a price for that in the marketplace.”

On Wednesday, Swift achieved a new milestone by equaling Beyoncé’s record of 30 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), having won seven of them.

Taking to the stage, the singer, songwriter and director of ‘Fortnight’, a song on which she shares credits with Post Malone and which won in the category of video of the year at the VMAs, spoke of “the happiness, the fun and the magic” that her boyfriend, American football player Travis Kelce, brings to her, and encouraged her fans over 18 years old “to register and vote for something else,” in reference to the elections.CategoriesWorld , Other news AmericaTagsUSA , Elections , Trump

Poll shows neither Taylor Swift nor the debate distance Harris from Trump

Published

September 15, 2024

Washington (EFE).- Neither the debate held last week, in which Democratic candidate Kamala Harris showed a better performance, according to polls, nor the support given to her by music icon Taylor Swift have made the vice president take off against Republican candidate and former president Donald Trump , according to the latest poll published this Sunday by ABC News/Ipsos.

Thus, while before the debate Harris was leading Trump by four points according to this poll (50% versus 46%), after the debate held in Philadelphia last Tuesday Harris is ahead by five points (51% versus 46%), with a slight change of one point.

The poll looks at a number of variables, including the impact of singer Taylor Swift’s announcement minutes after the debate that she was voting for Harris . Only 6% of respondents say the pop star’s support for Harris makes them more likely to vote for her.

What do the polls say about Trump and Harris?

13%, on the other hand, say it makes them less likely to support it, and 81% say it makes no difference.

According to the ABC News/Ipsos poll, 58% of Americans say Harris won the debate (36%, Trump), a shift from the Biden-Trump showdown in June, in which the former president was seen as the winner by 66% of voters.

The president’s disastrous performance in this debate ended up being the main reason he dropped out of the race for the White House and handed the baton to Harris.

The poll of 3,276 adults found a slight drop in the share of Trump supporters who strongly back him: 56%, down from 60% in late August. Meanwhile, 62% of Harris supporters say they strongly back her.

Trump’s advantage

However, Trump has an advantage on another indicator: while 42% call him too conservative, 47% call Harris too liberal, one of the main arguments the Republican campaign is using against the Democrat.

With 51 days to go until Americans go to the polls on November 5, national polls continue to give Harris the lead. According to the FiveThirtyEight website, which averages the polls, Harris leads Trump by 48% to 45.4%.

However, since in the United States the election is not held directly but through the 538 electors, which are divided proportionally among the 50 states of the country (plus the District of Columbia), the key to these elections will continue to be in swing states such as Pennsylvania, Georgia or Wisconsin, where the difference is minimal.

Vamos a sacar a esa gente.

Primer debate Harris – Trump
